Our Ann Arbor based client is a privately-held, global business in the commodities industry. This entrepreneurial business is seeking a Vice President of Operations to join their growing team.

Vice President, Operations

This newly created Executive role will serve as a key member of the leadership team, ensuring the efficient operations of primarily administrative areas of the business (may include IT, accounting, dispatch, supply, billing, human resources). Specific expectations include ensuring operational goal attainment through the creation of focus, accountability and data analytics while leading/developing team members in a manner consistent with financial goals/objectives.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Direct supervisory responsibilities may include supervision of enterprise-wide operations, leadership, goal setting and mentoring for multiple departments/operational team members while partnering with finance.

Operational Oversight

  • Provide strong attention to detail and a quality orientation to enterprise-wide operations.
  • Project manage organizational and/or departmental plans for goal achievement.
  • Prepare comprehensive annual plans and budgets.
  • Execute budgets and financial targets; preparation of monthly metrics for review by executive leaders.
  • Provide reports and analyses to CEO of progress against goals.

Requirements include:

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Business, Finance, or a relevant field of study.
  • Demonstrated track record of success leading teams and implementing scorecards/dashboards or analytics that drive measurable impact in a for-profit/corporate setting, military service, or dynamic, growth setting.
  • Proven financial oversight experience and expertise.
  • Significant experience in leadership positions managing operations and diverse team members.
  • A history of launching successful initiatives, including managing change and ensuring target attainment through resource allocation and continuous monitoring/adjustments to ensure objectives are met.
  • A high level of Emotional Intelligence or Social IQ with demonstrated track record of influencing, collaborating and affecting change through others.
  • Proven ability to partner with an entrepreneurial CEO and executive leadership team to foster success in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
  • Impeccable written and oral communication and relationship building skills; ability to effectively communicate vision, goals and values and impact performance.
