Our client, Gift of Life Michigan was incorporated in 1971 by Michigan transplant surgeons to provide a network for sharing kidneys. Today, Gift of Life Michigan is a nonprofit organization, headquartered in Ann Arbor, is the state's only federally designated organ and tissue recovery program, providing all services necessary for organ and tissue donation to occur in Michigan, 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
As a state-wide liaison between donors, hospitals and transplant centers, Gift of Life recovers more than 1,000 organs every year for transplantation from 300 or more donors, saving hundreds of lives. Bone, skin and other tissue also is recovered, helping to significantly improve the lives of thousands of seriously injured and sick recipients.
Chief Communications Officer
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Communications Officer is responsible for organizational communications, brand strategy and execution, and development and oversight of communications strategy. This role oversees the Communications Department, including management of budget, staff, external communications and strategy that will grow the Michigan Organ Donor Registry. The Chief Communications Officer is a member of the executive/senior leadership team and assists the team in developing and disseminating internal communications and messaging that aligns to our core purpose and values. In addition, this role is responsible for ensuring that a common, consistent, integrated donation message is communicated to the public through all Gift of Life Michigan resources, including but not limited to the website, printed materials, media releases, outreach events and Gift of Life Foundation communications.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, government affairs, marketing, or public relations required; Master's degree preferred
- A minimum of 15 years of experience, with 10 being in a managerial/leadership role
- Five or more years of digital marketing experience
- Knowledge and experience in healthcare communications (highly preferred)
- A visionary, creative and innovative work style
- A passion for and enjoyment of working with people, with a high level of competence in public speaking.
- Ability to operate at both a strategic and executional level.
