Deli Full-Time Restaurant Front of House - Zingerman's

Zingerman's Delicatessen is the flagship location for the Zingerman's Community of Businesses. We've been serving traditionally made, full flavored foods from around the world for 39 years now, and our commitment to great customer service recently earned us a James Beard award nomination for best service in the country. Our guests regularly line up all the way down the block because they know that whatever sandwich they order or chocolate bar they taste, it'll most likely be the best they've ever had.

We practice open book management, and the most frequent comment on our annual staff survey is, "This is the best job I've ever had." If you join us, you'll work with a diverse group of people, many of whom plan to own their own businesses some day.

Compensation: $14-$18 to start (includes tips)

This is a full-time position (32-40 hours/week)

What are some of the essential things we do in this job?

• This job varies each and every day
• We smile and talk to many guests, no matter what we're doing
• Greeters: We enthusiastically greet every guest and make them feel welcome
• Runners: We accurately, politely and enthusiastically deliver sandwiches, salads, groceries, and desserts to guests in a large, multilevel seating area
• Bussers: We keep tables, floors, bathrooms and all guest areas clean and inviting
• Stockers: We keep refrigerators full and product displays bountiful
• Phone Salespeople: We answer the phone with a smile, finding out what our guests want while making suggestions from our extensive menu.
• Cashiers: We handle the registers to accurately ring our guests up
• Cafe Baristas: we make drinks in our Next Door Cafe with some of the finest coffees in the world
• We all work together as a team, doing many tasks that ensure our guests are happy

Safety at Zingerman's Delicatessen

The health and safety of our staff is our greatest priority. We are adamantly following the guidelines and directives from the CDC, Washtenaw County, the State of Michigan and other experts.

We've been inspected by MIOSHA in partnership with NSF and have received their Highest Tier 2 rating which acknowledges COVID-19 workplace safety commitments and efforts to keep customers and employees safe. Words from the inspector: "I've not seen any business this organized with their preparedness plans...."

We are focusing on screening, sanitizing and distancing on our entire property:

• We are screening all employees who come to work each day for symptoms.
• All staff members wear masks at all times anywhere on our property, inside or outside
• We have set up safe working distances for every employee.
• We practice social distancing of a minimum of 6 feet from each other, including workspaces and guest seating.

What are the shifts?

• The Delicatessen is open from 11AM to 7PM every day. This may change. Shifts begin as early as 10AM
• Shifts range from 4 hours to 8 hours long with a 30 minute paid break.
• You need to be able to work at least 24 hours per week
• Candidates with full time (32hrs+) availability preferred
