Financial Reporting Manager

Our client is a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of branded home improvement and building products with products that improve the way consumers all over the world experience and enjoy their living spaces. Their diverse portfolio includes industry-leading brands in paint; faucets, bath and shower fixtures; decorative and outdoor lighting and spas, to name a few.

Purpose

This is an outstanding opportunity for an emerging finance leader to join the Financial Reporting team. The Financial Reporting Manager position provides leadership and direction for a broad range of duties within Finance including accounting, financial reporting, partner service levels, ad hoc financial analysis, standardized process oversight and optimization, and team member talent development.

Nature & Scope

Located in Livonia, Michigan, the Financial Reporting Manager will report to the Director of Financial Reporting. Currently, this position will have two direct reports.

This manager position ensures a high level of service to the organization, including responsibility for reviewing and preparing SEC filed financial statements (Form 10-Q and 10-K filings) and pension financial statements, and accounting and analysis for domestic and international business unit matters and special projects, including mergers and acquisitions. In addition, this manager will be responsible for crafting and maintaining accounting policies, as well as adopting new accounting standards.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate financial reporting each quarter-end
  • Provides critical expertise on various complex US GAAP matters, including but not limited to employee benefits, stock-based compensation, impairment testing, leases, revenue recognition
  • Prepares technical accounting white paper position papers
  • Oversees quarterly financial statement analysis
  • Leads all aspects of the organization's accounting policies
  • Sets objectives for department and provides mentoring and feedback for direct reports
  • Identifies and leads Continuous Improvement activities related to accounting, analysis, reporting and service
  • Coordinates and works directly with internal and external auditors
  • Provides ad hoc analysis and reporting

Education & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess a BS/BA degree in Accounting and/or Finance and minimum 7 years of meaningful financial experience in accounting/finance. CPA is required. Developed skills in Workiva and Smart View are highly desired.

In addition to having a high level of competence and proficiency in US GAAP and SEC regulations, the ideal candidate must possess excellent problem-solving, teaming, prioritization, project management and service minded skills and attributes.

It is important that this individual have highly developed communication skills, including the ability to communicate at all levels of an organization and maintain confidentiality. This person must exhibit a high degree of professional excellence characterized by sound independent judgment, initiative, high standard of ethics and an aptitude to lead and develop others. Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision.
